How to Enter the OIF “FLIX” Challenge!

1. Join our Los Angeles Facebook Group by visiting https://www.facebook.com/groups/oiflosangeles. There you will find a growing number of filmmakers, talent, and crew, to network with and help get your production going.
2. Write a short drama script (run-time of 9 minutes or less) and submit it.
3. Look over the submission forms, (found on our home website) and start by submitting your script. If selected, start production. Be sure to follow the Challenge Rules.
4. Once films are judged, all qualified selections will be screened at a commercial Theater! An awards ceremony immediately follows the screening, which is then followed by a networking party. Perfect events to play dress up for!

OIF continues to screen locally-produced films at commercial theaters such as AMC, Regal, and others. Our open platform places the filmmakers, actors, and crew members in the spotlight!

How OIF Script-to-Screen Short Film Challenges Work

1- Submit your script, wait for selection announcements, then produce the film
Soon after the film deadline is up, the films undergo a judging process by a panel of remote judges. The production lead submits the names of their cast and crew for award consideration. Submit your film on the main site. All active challenge submission forms, can be found on that page.

2- Produce a short film based on the script
Write an original script for short film and submit it to us on OIF’s main site here: https://independentfilmmakers.org/submissions/.
The film runtime, including required cards and credits must not exceed nine minutes. Use the OIF platform to connect with other like-minded people in film and connect with potential cast and crew candidates wishing to join a film production team. You may post your casting/crew calls to the group while also looking up members you feel may fit and connect. Once set, go into production. After script selection we allow over two months for production time.

3- See your creation in a theatrical setting
All qualifying films will be presented at a screening in a theater. In the past, we have even filled 500-seat theaters!
Be sure to dress up for photos on the red carpet!

4- Support your fellow members, you may be next!
An awards ceremony usually follows shortly after the screening. We present up to 13 crystal awards in categories such as Best Story, Lead Actor, Supporting Actress, Cinematography, etc., to the winners from a pool of nominees in that genre.

5- Time to Network at the After-Party
We end the day with a networking event, where many more connections can be made with others that may help your personal career. All around, OIF provides memorable times and immeasurable benefits to those wishing to jump into film or expand their careers.
